Sensor Installation Guide

• Locate the sensor (probe) position point on the dump pipe.
• Once the spot is located, coat the drill bit with lots of grease to hold any shavings, and drill and tap a hole with 1/8 NPT / BSTP thread. If you rotate the drill bit slowing the grease will not fly off.
• If you need to, use a small mechanics magnet that will pass through the hole to the bottom wall to retrieve drill and tap shavings. Clean shavings from magnet and search for more shavings until the magnet comes back clean.
• With the sensor inserted through the hole, measure the sensors immersion depth into the exhaust stream. The correct immersion should be 1/3rd to 1/2th the diameter of the exhaust pipe. This probe will not cause a significant restriction in exhaust flow or horsepower. When the depth has been selected, mark the sensor at the location just above the compression nut with a marker. Now remove the senor from the mounting hardware.
• Install the mounting adaptor to the drilled hole. Tighten it with a 14 mm wrench and secure with strong Loctite and leave to set for a few minutes.
• Insert the sensor through the mounting hardware until the depth mark reaches the top of the compression nut.
• With the sensor spring lead wire running the way you like it, using a short 12 mm open end wrench, tighten the compression nut until the sensor probe is unable to rotate in the hardware. If necessary, support the square portion of the fitting body with a 14 mm open end wrench.
• Route the lead wire toward the firewall taking precaution to keep it away from hot and moving parts. Do not secure the wire tightly. Make long sweeping bends and loosely guide the lead wire to the instrument using the harness ties. This will allow the wire to absorb the engine vibration along the wires length.
• NOTE: Do NOT cut or splice the thermocouple lead wire as it is special wire that provides correct reading to the gauge. Simply coil any excess wire out of the way. When disassembling the sensor, place the ferrule (olive) in a safe place for later use.

EGT AND MAP CONTROLLER SET UP GUIDE

Programing the EGT Controller “ON/OFF” trigger point:
•On the display press “SET”. The display will show “0000”
•Use “>” on unit to select the last figure on the right hand side
•Use “T” when the last ZERO is flashing. So that it displays “0001”
•Press “Set” Screen will display AH1. This is the “ON” trigger point.
•Press “SET” (Pre-set value will be shown i.e. 575 DEG Cel.) This value is changed using UP/DOWN arrows.

We recommended that the factory MAX EGT TEMPS be ascertained. Do this by removing the fuse from the Chip It Performance Module (not the EGT controller) and taking the vehicle for a hard long drive up a steep hill preferably with a load. Note the temps. From there you can safely add 10% to this figure.

•Press “SET” to set the “ON” trigger point and the screen will revert back to previous screen.

Next, is the programming of the “OFF” trigger point:
Press the right pointing arrow until you see “AL1”. This is the “OFF” trigger point.

•Press “SET”. (Pre-set value will be shown i.e. 500)
•Press the “>” until the digits you wish to change starts flashing.
•Press the “T” to select a new “OFF” point.
•Press “SET” to confirm.
• Now scroll with “>”until screen value reads “END”
• Press “SET” to set the “OFF” trigger point.

• As seen on YouTube:
video

NOTES ON CONTROLLER:
• AL1 STANDS FOR ALARM LOW. AH1 STANDS FOR ALARM HIGH
• ALWAYS ENSURE THE “OFF” SETTING OF “AL1” IS LOWER THAN “AH1” “ON” SETTING.
• FOR USE AS A MAP ACTIVATION CONTROLLER WE RECOMMEND A BOOST SETTING OF A MINIMUM OF 4PSI @ AH1 TRIGGER & 3PSI @ AL1“OFF” TRIGGER.
• ALARM LIGHT WILL GLOW WHEN HIGH VALUE (AH1) TRIGGER HAS BEEN REACHED.
• AT AH1, A CHIP IT PERFORMANCE MODULE WILL HAVE A LOWER STATE TUNE APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY.
• EGT’S SHOULD BE SEEN TO REDUCE AT THIS TIME EVEN AT W.O.T..
• IF EGTS DO NOT REDUCE, A LOWER TUNE STATE SHOULD BE SELECTED.
• NB. WHEN HIGH VALUE TRIGGER (AH1) HAS BEEN REACHED THE ALARM LIGHT ON FRONT RIGHT CORNER OF CONTROLLER WILL GLOW, THIS IS THE “ON” POINT OF INJECTION.
• WHEN LIGHT EXTINGUISHES INJECTION WILL “OFF”
• BOOST PRESSURE VALUES ARE PRE-SET FROM FACTORY WITH 6PSI AND 4.5PSI.
